I've never been to Smithfield, but would love to go. Can you elaborate on the logistics of it? I.e. Parking your car, and how to negotiate with the sellers etc.Eddie wrote:I've purchased a rolled brisket in the past and it has been a flat, without the bone and no fat. Booker are saying their rolled brisket averages at about 5kg. Do you think this is a whole brisket, or is it just the flat?
Is a rolled brisket just another term for a whole brisket with no bone?
Thanks,
I think if you can get a brisket for £6.50-£8.50 you will be getting a good deal. I went to Smithfield’s market a couple of weeks ago and purchased a 10kg box of boneless skinless chicken breast and they worked out as £3.40 per kg, my butcher sells it for £8.50 per kg. At the end of the month when I go again, I will be looking at the Briskets, pork shoulders and chicken thighs.MrJaba wrote:What would you normally pay for a brisket Eddie? Bit worried I'm going to get something not quite right, like last time!
I'll also post what price they are selling at.
Eddie.
When choosing a brisket - how much fat is the ideal amount? Maybe a 1 or 1.5 cm cap?
