Music festivals and bbqs

Post by Backyardsmoker »

Does anyone go to festivals? Ive been going download at Donington for 11 years now. I only live about 8 miles away so only camped there a few times. Ten years ago when I first camped you could have. Gas burners or proper bbqs. Now u can only take disposables or some strange solid fule get up.

So I guess this summer im going to take a shed loads of disposables. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the best from these?

Seems to be a common thing, now. I went to Download in 2009 and 2010 and both times I took disposables. Seems to be a wild variation in price but they all seem to go to pot in inclement weather! I think I got ours from Poundland or similar the last time.

They have a sheet laid over the coals soaked in fuel, which in theory should light it. My advice is, don't trust them - take lighter fluid and a long lighter!

At Hop Farm Festival last year they had designated BBQ areas - you had to take all your food over, cook it all, then bring everything back with all your food, BBQ, fuel etc under your arms. Right pain in the arse! But Download is easily the most desnely packed camping I've ever seen, and I guess if a fire spreads it could be very lethal...

I camped at reading festival 2001-2004 and we were allowed fires next to the tents. Download is dead strict though. .. I guess thats so you have to go and buy food.

I hate pot noodles n stuff so im going to have to take a cooler with meat in fir the first couple of days...

This year looks llike a good line up. Cant wait. Good food goid music great mates and cider!!!
