Peach wood

Hi Guys,

Was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some peach wood? Keep seeing it on BBQ postmasters, good old Myron, but I can't see anywhere to buy it from. Any ideas? Ha anyone used it?

i spend a while looking for this a couple of years ago and just wasn't able to find anyone over here that sells peach wood the next best thing is apricot or nectarine wood which was good, a milder version of hickory. I got this by speaking to one of the orchards in the UK

I'll have a look to see if i can remember where i saw someone advertising it.

At a rough guess I's say an arm & a leg. Try a european fruit grower

I'm getting something shipped over at the moment which weighs about 2.5kg and the shipping alone is $60 then you have to add another 20% to the shipping cost and the cost of what you've bought it starts getting expensive really quick.

Also you can run the risk of someone fumigating your wood if it gets stopped by customs. I don't know exactly what the rules are for this but worth looking into as i remember someone else tried a new supplier of hickory wood and their supply had been fumigated which left an awful taste.

Ed, that's a very good point about the fumigation, didn't think about that at all.. would they do the same with sealed wood chips? guessing probably not.. but damn is that expensive, so I think that probably rules that out.

I don't really know why it got fumigated, i just know it did.

Weber & others are able to import wood without this problem so not sure why it happened to them, but it's something to consider when looking to import wood.

Maybe it's something like a US customs declaration on their side a bit like TIR, large companies may have to sign up to restrictions, checks etc. which aren't available for small users/suppliers?
