Fribin Baby Backs
Fribin Baby Backs
Has anyone tried these before? Come frozen in 10kg boxes at £37. They're really meaty, weigh round about 0.75kg each, give or take. I've had a couple of boxes and they smoke really well. Did my shopping today for the weekend markets, thought I'd see how these went down.

Re: Fribin Baby Backs
They do look like some good baby back ribs, better than the frecarn ones i've been cooking recently.
I do prefer to cook Baby backs when i'm at home as i find them so easy to cook.

They look good, have you any more pics, so we can get a look at the thickness please?

I'm smoking this morning, I'll take more pics so you can get a better look.aris wrote:Where did you get them?
They're from a wholesale butcher called G Bolam Foods in Sedgefield up here in the north east. I filled out an enquiry form on the fribin website about getting them direct, but they didn't get back to me.

Fribin are AWESOME ribs - we landed a First place in 2011 using them!

Don't know if these pics do them justice, but they are quite thick. They throw 1 or 2 small racks in the box too though, must be to make up the weight. I'll probably have to eat those myself.....
Been watching the latest series of bbq pitmasters, think I'll have a go at wrapping them with some goodies for the last half hour see how they turn out. Can't find any squeezy butter over here?
i'll post a couple of pics this afternoon.

Personally i find the best way to cook babyback is to cook them at 250f and do 2 hrs uncovered and then 2hrs in foil. I cooked 40 racks for a pop up restaurant night we put on and every rack came out perfect.SmokinBBQ wrote: think I'll have a go at wrapping them with some goodies for the last half hour see how they turn out.

Those look nicer than the baby backs you get at bookers. I doubt they would deal directly with you though unless you will buy massive quantities - i.e. a wholesaler or distributor.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try. This is just my 9th weekend at markets so learning every week. I do three pork shoulders and a pulled beef joint and sell out at Newcastle Quayside every sunday so doing more this week. Lots of people make a point of coming back to say what a lovely sandwich they had so I must be doing something right. Get wrong off the missus for being too generous with the portions though.Swindon_Ed wrote:Personally i find the best way to cook babyback is to cook them at 250f and do 2 hrs uncovered and then 2hrs in foil.
