The advantage with the ProQ is the stackers can be returned to the same place with a fair degree of accuray due to the clips. My stacker joints are fairly tight so I haven't bothered, I don't forsee any major problems.

I'm going to see how the temp holds once the doors are sealed before making any hasty applications around the stackers. My only concern is that I tend to thread the Maverick probes through the door rather than the eyelets (damn those 732 probes, I might have to drill the eyelet out slightly) and the silicone may prohibit that if it dries hard?

Have you tried gently crimping the probes? The emphasis is on GENTLY, I did and mine fit fine now. I have drilled out on grommet though for my IQue probe which has a wider/thicker metal body.

You mean to round out those little flat tabs at the wire end? I thought it was that crimp that was holding the wire in.. I've already accidentally pulled the wire from one probe

i did as keith suggested and carefully squoze! the crimp using a small vice i have, to reduce the maximum width slightly till it fit through the grommet, then hoped the probe worked, it did. i had previously tried to drill the grommet to a larger opening, but i couldnt hold it and it spun resulting in a loose bracket. you would think this problem would have resulted in bigger holes in the grommet by now. the problem of pulling the wire from the probe is something we all seem to have, they do appear to be fragile.

What I might do then is crimp them until they fit then seal around the probe-wire joint with heatproof silicone - should hold it in

Silicone just arrived in the post so I'll get it applied some time over the weekend, how long did you leave it to cure for, Keith? I'm probably going to apply PVC tape around the BBQ contact area to stop it sticking, then silicone the doors, close and leave to dry

PVC tape worked a treat. The bottom door seems to be completely airtight and the middle stacker just needs a little touch up along the side of the door to get it the same. Test burns shall soon commence!

I wouldn't seal the probes in, as you may want to be able to use the probes on either stacker, the very small gap isn't worth worrying about IMHO as the grommets are open anyway.

I'm just going to drill out the grommets a bit to fit the probes. As I got a replacement pit probe with an extremely long wire (why don't they ship with those as the standard length?) the pit probe get the bottom eyelet, meat probe get the top

Edit - or failing that, I'll cut a very small section of silicone out and use that gap to thread the probe wires through
