Correct gas for a new barbeque

My grandmother in law has bought us a new gas barbeque - http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st ... ber=129642

We already have the following gas cylinder:-

However, she was told when buying the barbeque in Homebase that she would need "special" gas. They suggested the following product - http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st ... ber=115611

A few queries:-

1. Which gas do we currently have (the calor gas) - is the output pressure on this 37mb?
2. Will the calor gas work with the gas barbeque in the link above - and what do we need to check to ensure that this is the case?
3. If the calor gas doesn't work with the gas barbeque in the link above, is there a regulator we can get that will ensure compatibility?

Basically it depends on the colour of your regulator. Blue is for Butane and red for Propane/Patio Gas. Go to the calor gas site for the authorised answer for safety & piece of mind. The gas they want to sell you is interchangeable with the propane you have. Just make sure the bbq has a red regulator, the blue one won't even fit the cylinder. Propane/Patio Gas is the better product burns hotter and at lower temps.

The new Barbeque definitely has a red regulator attached.

So, given that, are we good to go, or are there different types of red regulator and is there a possibility we have the wrong kind?

Well both connections are described as 27mm clip on, both products are Propane. That sounds ok to me.

It is an International Standard so it will fit. If it fits you are good to go.

Are you sure about this? Whilst patio gas is propane I think the regulator used is slightly different from the regulator used on the regular red bottles. Both bottles are at the same pressure but the connectors are slightly different, Been a few years since I looked at this so I maybe wrong.

At the moment both bottles mentioned are Calor Patio Gas in the standard green tank and gaslight "propane" which again is in a green tank. I agree there may be a difference between these and the Commercial Red Propane tank fittings but the red regulator that came with the bbq poster has is designed to fit domestic propane/patio gas cylinders.

No they do high pressure regulators for propane tanks. With gas it's always better to be cautious

This is exactly what the guy at the Calor gas place in Oxford told me, and on top of this he told me the propane is cheaper to refill than the blue bottle / Butane.
