Replacement temp gauge and wood chips

Post by wd40 »

Hi

I would like to replace the standard hood thermometer on my brinkmann smoke n grill as seems common practice.

I have tried ebay, amazon, garden centres etc but except for a couple on ebay that ship from China I've not really had much success.

Can anyone recommend anywhere I can find one suitable that I can buy? A pointer to somewhere I can buy a slide vent would be nice too :)

I also ordered some wood chips to use and rather than soak them I will use the foil pouch method that I have done before on my gas grill.

Approx how many should I use? a hand full? a cup full? I have no idea how long they will keep smoking for. I'd just like a rough idea as a starter, I can adjust to taste after that.

Thank you for any responses.

I have just got one of these, the two inch size. Mine was purchased via Amazon (USA) but shipped direct from River Country - perhaps they would ship direct to the UK if someone wanted.
