Another Newbie Here

Post by TFUNK »

Hello everyone!

Thought I should introduce myself as I've just signed up the forums. I'm a keen amateur cook from Durham in the north east of England. I love to cook outdoors and after years of wanting to get into smoking I've finally moved to a house that has enough secure outdoor space to get started. I bought myself a Pro Q Frontier and have so far made 1 attempt at smoking - I made some ribs a few weeks ago and they turned out OK, good flavour and smoke ring but not very tender (maybe a 6/10 so room for improvement). To be fair it was my first attempt at smoking, it rained heavily and the wind was really up so I had a lot of trouble maintaining a steady temperature. Plenty of lessons learned for my next attempt (the main one being check the weather forecast!) which will probably be pulled pork or maybe brisket.

Anyway, I'm hoping that some of your experience and knowledge will help me along the way. :D

The hints and tips and good advice that is available in this forum is immeasureable, the only advice i feel i can give is practice, take notes, expect it to take longer, use good fuel, have drink ready throughout the process (whatever the time is).
good cooking.
