Maverick ET732 Losing Connection

Post by gunman »

Just before Christmas I bought myself a Maverick off ebay which came from the States. It came to about £42 all in and was brand new in it's box. This was really because I was doing brisket and pulled pork over xmas and didn't fancy having to keep going outside in the cold to check temps.

On the first use it went well but on the second I noticed that for about 20 mins the temps didn't change, when I went outside the temps had dropped quite a bit but the indoor monitor didn't register it. I reset it and it started reading the proper temps.

I thought it was just out of range but on xmas day we used it on the turkey in the oven, the receiver was about 6" away from the sender and the same thing happened twice! Problem is, you have to reset it from the sender (which is obviously outside during a smoke), so I'm left having to keep going outside to check temps now anyway!

Anyone else had this or have I just got a dodgy unit?

I'm having a similar problem, in addition mine loses range and beeps insistently about every half hour. it has also developed condensation inside the display on the transmitter, so I'm going to send mine back. Here's hoping they are just defective units as it's a great piece of kit otherwise
