Memphis in May 2014

I cannot remember if i added the info here but a in previous years i have taken a team over to the American Royal in Kansas city. For 2014 I have secure a spot at Memphis in May, recently voted the worlds most prestigious BBQ competition by USA today.

Memphis is all about the Hog and therefore the main entry will be Whole Hog. I have also entered all of the sides which include 3 different sauces plus exotic, beef, hotwings.

It is costing over £10,000 to take part, costs include floor and tent hire, portaloos, t shirts, banners, ingredients, consumables etc etc so it is a pretty big deal. I have just seen the design for someones 3 storey structure that they are having built!

I am opening this up to anyone that would like to join us and experience a competition, American style!!

We have a block booking at a quality inn about 1 & 1/2 miles away from the park, rooms cost about $105 per night for a twin room. Flights are approx £600 and we are asking for a £250 contribution towards costs.

It should be noted that you will be part of the team, receiving all the logo'd shirts, polo shirts etc. you will be fed and watered over the competition and you will be asked to help trim, rub, inject and cook!

the event takes place from Wednesday 14th May and goes on until Saturday. I will be flying out on the Monday to get things setup and others are flying out at various times.

The Royal was close to 10k and we did that two years on the trot. I think it's fair to say the trip "started something"
