Cocoshell briquettes

Post by Scantily »

Hello all,

I've only been properly bbqing and smoking since July 2013, on my search for the best fuels I came across several people talking about cocoshell briquettes being superior to heat beads. However, now I cannot find anywhere that sells them.

Is there a source for them? And are they actually any good?

Thanks guys.

They are good, although I wouldn't say they were better than HBs, as good certainly. Their big advantage was/is (hopefully) they tend to be more eco-friendly and certainly leave less ash than traditional briquettes or lumpwood. However they used to be widely on sale but are difficult to get hold of hence my use of HBs from now on.

seems you can get some still :D
I've tried to order some from that site previously but get no response, I'm guessing they don't stock it any more.

Thanks for the info, CPL seem to be the main manufacturer but from my research it seems it may have been withdrawn due to concerns regarding use of child labour.
