BigK ACH15

Post by JEC »

Good news, ACH15 is back in stock, just ordered 10 bags to keep me going for a while, added a couple of bags of the RCH15 to see what it was like

The RCH15 is more 'sticky', lots of long thin bits and small chunks. To be honest I don't think it's great for BBQ, I can understand the shisha pipe thing.

I've got through a bag and I've got another to go (and a bag of RCH12) but I wish the ACH15 had been in stock instead. I'm tempted put an order in for a couple of ACH15 but the postage is putting me off... normally I'd get at least 4 bags but it's excessive for 2 and I can't store 4 at the minute.

Just did a search around on the forums and this place is quite close to me so I might drop in and pick up some of their restaurant grade charcoal to see if it's any good.

The picture they sent me looked
OK, I don't mind some smaller stuff, especially for grilling as I often find the ACH15 too big, it's good to hear feedback though so thanks.

Yeah sometimes the ACH15 is pretty big, I've pulled out a few branch sized chunks in the past and thought WTF?

The RCH15 lights and burns well enough, it cooks everything fine, it's a bit fiddly trying to scoop it out so I just tip it out and you tend to get more small bits that fall through the chimney starter or charcoal grate. I was considering mixing the RCH12 and RCH15 go get a variety in chunk sizes. I thought that with the smaller sizes I would get higher fuel density and it would burn longer without needing a top up but it didn't really work out that way.

What you don't normally mix your lump, must just be me  50% ACH15, 30% RCH12, 20% Sainsbury value,

How did you find the RCH15? I just opened a bag of RCH12 after going through 2 bags of RCH15 and the chunks were massive in comparison.

Often a bit big and end up breaking them up but better that way than too small I guess.
