Our Very First Cook

Post by Alice's Restaurant »

Hello Forum

First cook on the Frontier a success 8-) Chicken came out great -- we just hoovered it -- yum yum. We didn't put any bbq sauce on it -- wanted to make sure it was nice all by itself. We beercanned it with a Jack Daniels and Coke mix -- the can was nice and squat 'cause other cans in the shops were all tallboys. We used Maple woodchips. Didn't get sand yet for lining the water pan so had to use water but the temperature was fine and one load of charcoal lasted the entire cook -- it's still puttering away at 100F as I write this. Bird was very stable on the can throughout--even at the end.

I marinated it in Paul Newman's Italian dressing overnight because I couldn't be fagged to mix up anything after having cooked a big Christmas meal. What fun this is -- we're hooked!
