Couple of pics of [almost] complete UDS. Needs another coat of paint and as I haven't used penny washers on the top screws yet, a bit of oil has seeped out...nothing a wash can't take care of. One or two 'pimps' to add also

Note the bone used a lid handle...bit of 'flintstone' chic there (found it buried under our garden last year - old farmland so presumably a shin from livestock!)

You're most welcome mate I'm glad it went to someone who could use it to build one of these things rather than getting left out for the scrap men. They're such great cookers and practically unknown here, I wanna see more of 'em

The Maverick or the Pro Q?
Might not be priority (Maverick) according to some - I think yetidave doesn't tend to use his much now (right dave?!)
Still, it's on my list for next year.

Let us know how you get on with the Halfords stuff. If anyone can link that Halfords paint thread here I'd be grateful (I'll try and search it out in the meantime).

Sorry, the maverick. Just seems a lot of money. I never know what to ask for at crippy.

Got the paint. Diddy tin. Not opened it yet. It looks like it cures at ambient temps. Only had a quick glance mind you. Probably won't get to apply it for a while yet as am concentrate on getting the PID running.

Did another test last night and looking more promising. Fingers crossed nearly there. Great pics BTW. Hope you get some great food out of it. Or at least a lot of fun trying!:)

Nah I don't tend to use my maverick all that much any more - UDS is so predictable and temperature stable that I don't need to. It's a useful piece of kit to have for overnight cooks though

It's a nice little project and one I'd definitely recommend - if you have everything at hand I reckon you could complete it in a day. Like anything you build/make yourself, there's that satisfaction hit too
