Chicken thighs

Post by NSC14 »

Want to smoke some chicken thighs for family bbq tomorrow. Got some short rib to do as well which I will put in the morning for about 8 hours at 225f.... Thinking of doing the chicken for about 3-4 hours at same temp?? Too long??? Not to concerned about what temp the thighs will get to (will make sure they are at safe!) as kj always does meat nice and moist!

Anyone else smoked chicken thighs??

In my experience, 325-350f is by far the best temp for chicken if you don't want the skin to end up a rubbery, inedible mess

I do whole chicken at 225 for 3-4 hours with no problem; perhaps a little shorter for thighs alone

45 mins at the 325-350 range for thighs, around an hour and a half for a whole butterflied chicken at that temp ;) I'd just get the ribs done and whack up the temp for the chicken

I would have water in for the ribs but that would kill the chicken. I'm defo a high temp chicken kinda guy. Spatchcock, cook about an hour at 200.
