Hi
Heres what I have found...............
All Butchers papers have a sizing on them which gives them leak resistance and wet strength.
Freezer paper has polythene on one side to avoid freezer burn
Peach "treat" paper also has the sizing and is "treated" to allows meat to breathe and keep colour, the darker colour paper disguises the juices better.
I believe that Kraft paper over 24 inches is untreated as it is used for crafts and table covers. However guys in the US have used the brown food bags from the market as a last resort which must be similar to a Maccy D bag. Don't know about Kraft paper falling apart but seems a reasonable assumption but will investigate.
Butchers paper?

Re: Butchers paper?
I'm currently using heavy duty unwaxed Kraft paper, bought in Hobbycraft, works well and is around £3 per roll.

Re: Butchers paper?
I'd take a few rolls of the white if you're taking orders?!
Re: Butchers paper?
Does the hobbycraft stuff hold together ok then?
The sheets sound ok too.... reckon that size you might get away with just one sheet?
Good find:)

Re: Butchers paper?
Yes, it holds together well, I've tried various types of Kraft/butchers paper that are available in the UK, and this is easily the best I've tried so far.
Re: Butchers paper?
Hi
Couple of guys in another forum are using parchment paper and getting great results and its available everywhere. Time to experiment me thinks!

Re: Butchers paper?
What about standard grease proof paper?
Re: Butchers paper?
Does Grease Proof allow it to "breathe"?
