I'm new to this forum. A northern boy who had to learn BBQ from my southern cousins. My efforts had a much more satisfying outcome when I started making my own dry rub. Basic rub: 1/4 cup brown sugar (sorry, American measurements), 1/4 cup paprika, 3 tbsp salt, 3 tbsp black pepper, 2 tbsp celery seed, 2 tbsp garlic powder, 2tbsp onion powder, 1tbsp red pepper, or more. I like cumin and criander to. You can add or take away ingredients and make it your own. Who needs sauce!
