Which brand?

Hello all, was wondering which type of fuel is most popular?. I normally use weber briquettes but have been reading that lumpwood is the way to go! What brand do you experienced bbq enthusiasts reccomend? Thanks.

I use restaurant grade lump from Booker/Makro as my charcoal of choice.

Thank's Steve, will try that out. How much is it a bag compared to briquettes? The Weber ones are £5 and £8 i think.

Weber Briquettes used to be great when they rebranded heatbeads, we used them on the competition circuit a couple of years ago only to find they had changed and left alot of ash (red in color)

For Briquettes Heatbeads are probably the best on the market, For lumpwood, as Steve mentioned resaurant grade lump from booker is a winner, fuel express doesnt tend to be consistant.

Prices at Makro/Booker fluctuate between £8 and £12 for a 12 kilo bag. Interestingly, when the price is higher the bags seem to be better. I think when it's at £8 they're getting rid of old stock.

On the briquette front Toby is spot on about Heat beads, they are a great product. The Weber ones we used the other year at competition sucked.
