Dirty Steak...

Yes to the first question.

No, you need to use lumpwood charcoal only, not briquettes as they will taste minging. Just blow or brush off any bits of lump that stick and blow the ash off the coals before dropping the steak on

Had a go at this myself after reading all the success stories online (including this thread). It. Was. Amazing.

Definitely the best steak i have ever cooked and one of the best I've ever eaten.

Got a nice thick ribeye from the butcher (450g in the end)
Seasoned with salt only
3 mins each side directly onto coals
(Not much gets stuck/man up and eat the dust :) )
Loosely cover for 5 mins
Devour!
