Rust inside GMG DB

I have a Daniel Boone, 10 months old. It lives in the shed in the winter and under a GMG cover the rest of the year.

When I got it out a few weeks ago, I found quite a lot of rust and bubbling paint inside the grill. American BBQ have sent me some paint and said to rub it down and repaint it, but the original paint is simply rubbing off using a wet cloth in some areas, e.g. By the grease outlet.

Anyone else had this problem?
