Charcoal locally

Post by luis »

Hi all again
Used my excel 20 for the first time yesterday with success.
Made some tasty beer but chickens which everyone enjoyed.
I did however have a problem getting the unit above 220f even with the vents fully open.
I was using charcoal briquettes from tesco which may have been the problem.
I'm sure I read somewhere in this forum you can buy restaurant grade bags of lumpwood from a manufacturer in bury Lancashire?
Can someone enlighten me please
Cheers

I forgot to say I had a clay saucer in instead of water.
Seemed much easier.
Ive just lighted some of the tesco briquettes on my grill and after only an hour they are vanishing to nothing.
Avoid I think in future

Most BP and Esso garages sell Chargrill lump charcoal or Barbequick lump, not the best but certainly an improvement on the supermarket stuff. Failing that try the Big K website or if you can order enough the Liverpool Woods website. Personally I like Chargrill Cocoshell briquettes for both the grill and my WSM, these are also the only briquettes I'm happy to use for the minion method.

It's Rectella you want, Adie buys directly from them so he'll be able to provide details. I use Liverpool Wood Pellets for restaurant grade because they deliver. However their collection prices are very good too if youre up that way.
