I have to say i really might think about that. But I might talk to a couple of friends and see if they are up for something like that. But if they are now could we just come down and see how the magic happens?

My two boys are interested in competing in the Kids Q this year and I was trying to find the rules or guidelines of what is required and what assistance is allowed ? What types of ingredients are on offer to the contestants ?
Regards

Hi Eddie
All the information is available here:
http://ibqn.com/?page_id=117
If you've any specific further questions, I can do my best to answer them.
Looking at your post a bit more closely, and the information on that page, I'll try to address your queries a little more:
In terms of assistance, all knife and direct barbecue contact must be performed by the responsible adult but the creative decisions are expected to be left to the participant. For example, in terms of cutting, the participant may ask for thin strips/diced/large cubes/etc. and it's up to their helper to simply be their hands rather than their brains. As a judge, it's a lot of fun to taste wild and wacky creations made by the competitors having fun with the ingredients on offer.
The ingredients available are likely to be a range of fruits and vegetables, of which a competitor may take five, as well as a variety of unlimited herbs and spices.
I'm sure your boys will love taking part.

Kids Q and Ready Steady Q will be at the following events this year.
Surrey County Show
The Big BBQ & Music Festival
Paddle Round The Pier
Cartmel
Due to me popping back and forth to hospital (Daughter number 3 will be joining our family on the Friday) at Mayhem in May it will just be the PitMasters comp.
