Too much Ash

Post by ed. »

Did some grilling at a friends this weekend. Used a webber kettle with cheap briquettes, and the food had quite a bit of ash on it. Nobody noticed when it was cooked, bit i wasn't happy.

Is this due to fuel, wind, or just bad luck? I kept the lid down as much as possible.

Thanks Ed.

Hi Ed, have had the same problem when doing demos and been given charcoal, cheap lump and dodgy briquettes cause the ash, unfortunately you cant stop the wind, what i tend to do is get the coal ready take the lid off for a few mins to let the wind blow the initial excess off and then pray that it is still when i take the food off.
Cheers
Toby

Thanks for the reply

Yes it was my friends cheap fuel, i'll use better stuff next time. luckily everyone was too piddled to notice, and just glad it wasn't my friends usual burnt offerings.
