Where to get whole frozen turkey all year round?

Postby SR-71 Blackbird » 15 Jan 2012, 19:47

Hi guys,

Are there any supermarkets where I can get whole frozen turkey all year round as I am looking to smoke turkey all year round?

I've looked in ASDA, Tesco and Booker so far.

Thanks guys.

Ocado has frozen turkeys in stock, according to their website.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the tip and yes you are right looking at their website :)

Does anybody know of anywhere else that might have them?

I can get a Crown at Booker but ideally I was looking for the whole bird.

Thanks

How about a good local butcher, they should be able to source them for you.

Only a guess, but if Ocado has them, it may be worth checking out Waitrose, if you have one near you.

Their product range isn't totally the same, but many of Ocado's products are Waitrose-branded.

There are a few independant farms with frozen turkeys left over from Christmas. Hpwever the cheapest I've seen is £39:00. Please keep us updated with any success :)

Thanks guys.

As I was looking for one as well, I emailed the customer services of both Freezer Farms & Icelands, both apologised but apparantly there is no demand for Turkey other than at Christmas so they don't stock them. I have a meating with my butcher this week for coffee so I'll ask him if he knows of regional/national suppliers.
Does anyone who shops at Costco or Bookers been able to find any?????

Hi Swindon_Ed,

That's great news, I have pop along to my Sainsburys to have a look soon.

Keith157, Booker has turkey crown in the fresh meat fridge, its £4.99 per kg and they seem to be around 4-5kg weight on average.

Thanks everyone.
