The search facility on here isn't very helpful

Post by Col (Shizzling) »

Searching for 'pork butt', 'beef ribs', 'pork ribs', etc yields a "The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: ribs pork." message.

Is there a way to change the algorithm so that all words in the search are used?

All words are used e.g. a search on "beef ribs" will bring up beef and ribs i.e. beef brisket & pork ribs, as well as beef ribs which is why you get the warning dialogue box. I agree that there could be a better facility i.e. "exact phrase" to be used, but that costs money and it's a free access forum so someone (probably Toby) would have to stump up the cost. I daresay that there are members of the forum who are more than capable of "fettling"the search program, but then you have to be able to support the program should anything happen. The company I work part-time for are going through this exact nightmare at the moment.

Have you tried querying via google? Put bbbqs forum in to the box followed by what you are looking for, normally at the top of the page you can view just results from the forum, I use this technique quite a lot on the Egghead Forum and the Brethren
