Hi all

Just a quick intro- a Brit, living in bucks, lived in Canada for a year or so
And loved the 'barbecue on every deck ' approach out there

And of course bbq'ing in the snow and the classic ' my beers frozen before the foods done' routine.

When we came back we brought back our weber q300 bought out there and with a little surgery it works fine here as well


I also brought back some cedar planks but now they are running out
I need more soon ( can you believe the price - much more solid here and price perhaps reflects that !)

Back to the food! Quite a basic barbequer , burgers, salmon, going to abuse ourselves with a beer can chicken in a few weeks! - and I intend to broaden my repertoire and skills

Sorry for delay- started a new job this week, busy, busy it's been days since I've used the BBQ!

Thanks for that link, I'll go look. The packs of Canadian planks were disposable, 5mm thick and about 12" x 7"

I'd not even considered a woodyard, what for planks or chips? Any considerations to be made regards thwbwood having to be just drued out / but no rot treatments etc?

And we are in sunny Flackwell Heath, between high wycombe and Bourne end

Not very far from us, I'm in Radnage, 4 miles west of High Wycombe. As it happens I was in F Heath yesterday.

May have some crab apple wood, have a tree that came down a few years ago and need to try smoking with it.

I'm fortunate that an ex rugby (we're both a wee bit to old to play anymore- mind says yes but the body says no) mate of mine owns a wood yard. He supplies me with untreated planks (lots of different varieties) that he machines to 'bring them back' and I have a whole lot of fun albeit obsessive....but that's what it's all about isn't it?
