Having just purchased and got delivery of a maverick 732, how does anyone who's got one run the wires into their smoker ??
I ran mine through the top vent of my Frontier as was in a rush to use, worked a treat but was a bit ungamely wondered if anyone has any other ideas.
maverick probes
Re: maverick probes
Top vent for me, but my smoker has a flat lid so it's a handy place to pop the transmitter. I'm guessing that's your main problem with top vent? If so, could a hook to hang the transmitter off help?

Re: maverick probes
On my WSM I put it through the top vent and secured it to the lid thermometer. I experimented with attaching it the the grate (running it through the coal door) as this is the temp that actually matters but then moved to a PartyQ which is now secured there.
Re: maverick probes
Has anyone with a Pro-Q tried enlarging the holes that are supposed to be for probes so that a probe will fit through ??

Re: maverick probes
Top vent of the kettle and through the door of WSM, I drilled a hole in the side under the handles of my 'Mini WSM'.

Re: maverick probes
Top vent of the WSM and secure it to the top handle with a ty-wrap around the wire stand of the Maverick.
Re: maverick probes
Does anyone know if any retailers in the NW London, Middx, Herts area stock these probes.
I can only see them on online retailers and I'd prefer to avoid that if I can.

They are hard to find - online might be best. I've bought several probes from Mac's BBQ for my own home-made device - can recommend them, had no problems.
