have you looked at Kamodo style cookers? Whereabouts in Cornwall?

I'm with Rick, I was looking to buy a Kamado at the end of last year - I was convinced to buy a Pro-Q Excel as it would do everything the Kamado could and be a lot cheaper. Reality is it takes a LOT of fuel to run (IMHO not worth lighting unless you've got 6+ mates over) and doesn't do direct very well and can't easily get up to high temps for roasting (will however happily sit 200-250f all day). Bottom line is I bought a KJ classic on Saturday and am over the moon with it. Yes it is in a different league price-wise but if you want something good, versatile and will last a few years then I would say a Kamado is the way to go... Will keep the Excel for a while for big BBQ parties - although I suspect when I haven't used it this time next year I'll probably sell it!
