Re: Sourcing Whole Brisket

Sounds like some good deals to be had...
Thanks for price feedback.
I still don't know what I'd do with it all after a modest cook yet though, the rest of my family are not as big a fan of brisket sandwiches and chili as me..

P.S ended up with even lighter option in the end for tomorrow ...

Re: Sourcing Whole Brisket

Thanks great to know, I'll give him a try for a big cook.
Still need a "lighter" option for regular use so think I'll order a cut unrolled and give it a go this weekend.
28 day matured, 1.5kg, £9, pretty sweet.

Re: New Maverick Dual Probe Thermometer

Thanks, yeah the door's probably the best option.
Have to take a look again, had problems with the hooky food probe as well a bit on some chicken thighs, (after realising they didn't fit the eyelets and getting in a rush ;) ) .
Otherwise works a charm, hopefully decent battery life as well.

Re: Compressed Walnut for fuel

What do you think of them? Look like a real nice burn to them.
Quite pricey, I think I'll stick to the lump in the 12kg sacks for now, interested though.

Re: New Maverick Dual Probe Thermometer

I really do like my Maverick but I've found the probes don't fit through the eyelets on my ProQ now, my only bummer with the purchase so far.

Can anyone recommend the best way to use them together?

Clip the probe to grill, probe meat and just run the cables out a gap?
It's a damn shame about the ...

Re: Sourcing Whole Brisket

I'm near Sunbury.

What about the unrolled idea? Still interested how that might come out.

Sourcing Whole Brisket

Hey there,
I've found it nigh on impossible finding a whole flat brisket offered as a standard cut anywhere, I assume people are getting these to order from a butcher.
Even so any I've asked have mostly just pointed me at essentially a rolled brisket, unrolled. Like 1.5kg.

I did manage to get ...

Surrey Smoker

Greetings!

Loving the forums, seems to be a good contingent of Brits championing American BBQ techniques up in here.
I'm a big fan and have recently got the kit together to give it a try myself.
I've already used my Proq Frontier smoker a few times, I've mostly been let down by nasty briquettes and ...
