What about Pear tree wood?

I've got several big branches that were cut off a pear tree last year (it was suffering from severe Pear rust)

Avoid or Smoke?

Pear wood is also great to smoke with. Very much like apple. The rust should not affect the wood just the leaves. Make sure that the wood is nice and dry and take off the bark and then it is ready to go. :D

I use chunks of my own apple prunings, let them dry out and cut them up into 2-3" chunks, pop them on most of my BBQ now, have some pear prunings drying for next year, also occasionally use oak, but find it quite a strong smoke.
Cheers
Marcus
